The fact there is a zoo in belvidere is great! The staff was polite and pretty much laid back. The fleas that attacked us near the pony rides were horrible, but other than that it was fun for the little ones.
Great for a small, apparently family owned zoo. Home to a wide variety of animals that you wouldn't typically see at a petting zoo. Pony rides, baby goat petting zoo, and animal encounter talk/show were our favorites. Perfect 3-hour experience for our 2 year old.
Awesome zoo for it's locations. I gave this zoo a 3 star because I have been to zoo's in large city's before going to this one and do to that those city's have set the bar for what a zoo should be. With that being said this zoo have great staff that will host did you know shows about different animals while walking around with the topic animal for you to get a close up visual (with the option to touch that animal). In my opinion this zoo does have more animals then I thought when I 1st pulled up. When pulling in the 1st impression I got was this zoo appear to be a house that's on multiple acres with animals. Overall great zoo for it's location
Great low cost, small zoo! Animal selection is not huge, but it is easy to maneuver and well-maintained. Interactive activities and petting areas is one of it's strong pluses!
